Super Books For September!

The cover for Action Comics #1, to be published in September as a part of DC Comics' post-Flashpoint reboot, by Rags Morales, looks awesome! DC Comics Blog says about the book: "This September, New York Times bestselling writer Grant Morrison (ALL-STAR SUPERMAN) joins with sensational artist Rags Morales to bring you tales of The Man of Tomorrow unlike any you’ve ever read before in ACTION COMICS #1. This momentous first issue will set in motion the history of the DC Universe as Superman defends a world that doesn’t trust their first Super Hero."
Doesn't really say much about any changes being made to the character himself, but he's in pretty good hands with Morrison.
But, while Superman gets a casual look on the Action cover, Superboy gets a disturbing new look on his:
About Superboy, DC Comics Blog says: "They thought he was just a failed experiment, grown from a combination of Kryptonian and human DNA. But when the scope of his stunning powers was revealed, he became a deadly weapon. SUPERBOY #1 will be written by Scott Lobdell with art by R.B. Silva and Rob Lean." Since Lobdell is writing the Teen Titans, and we've seen a different looking costume for Superboy on those covers, I'm going to hope that the above cover is just a representation of the character while being grown in Project Cadmus, and that he eschews all that upon escaping. I'll be looking forward to the next couple of issues of Superboy and Teen Titans, as Jeff Lemire, Pier Gallo, JT Krul, and Nicola Scott wrap up their interpretations of the character. Obviously, DC wasn't happy with the sales, but I thought they were decent books, and they made me like the character more than I had beforehand. I doubt he'll be better served under the new regime.

Alternate Teen Titans Cover!

Apparently Conner(Superboy)Kent will lose the S-Shield from his costume in the reboot of the DC Comics Universe, at least in this alternate cover for Teen Titans #1 by Brett Booth! (He still looks pretty good, though.)

After Flashpoint...

With DC Comics more or less restarting their universe after the Flashpoint 'event' ends, I had some questions regarding my favorite characters, especially Conner(Superboy)Kent, who had been absent (as has been most of the Super Family) from promotional images for the new number one issues coming out in September. While the initial Justice League team image and speculation surrounding it implied younger versions of DC's iconic characters, like Superman, the Batman book promotions seem to have kept Bruce Wayne's age intact, and maintained most of the Bat Family, Tim(Red Robin)Drake, seen above, being one of them. In the above promotion for Teen Titans #1, written by Scott Lobdell, and drawn by Brett Booth, finally we get a glimpse of post-Flashpoint Superboy! I am now officially okay with the retooling!
Also promoted is the above book, Justice League Dark, a home for some of DC's supernatural heroes. Madame Xanadu returns to the DCU proper, following her mini-series for DC imprint Vertigo, and it appears that Zatanna will have a Justice League base once again, though she apparently has fallen victim to DC's John Ashcroft policy that all women must now wear pants, moving her fishnets to her sleeves.
